I’m in the mood for my next read to be one that will have a lifelong impact. For reference, last book that fit this description (for me) was Steinbeck’s East of Eden.
I’d love to hear your recommendations, but I’d also like to list some of the books I already own that I’ve heard similar reviews of, and I’d appreciate others thoughts on. I’m always happy to buy more books, but if I can read one I already own that’s even better!
On my shelf, and on my TBR list:
• The Brothers Karamazov
• Anna Karenina
• The Grapes of Wrath
• Against the Day (*though Pynchon may be a bit dense to start with?)
Let me know your recommendations and/or which of the above books you feel fit what I’m looking for in my next read 🙂 I’m happy for the book to be long, so long as I can become completely entrenched in it and don’t want to put it down often (see East of Eden mention above lol). Ideally, then, I’m not looking for something too dense*, as I’m on the way out of a reading slump. I’ve had ‘The Books of Jacob’ on the go for a long, long time. Whilst it’s fantastic, it’s also something I find I need to put down for a while to read other things, and I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone for that reason.
(Disclaimer before anyone recommends it: I don’t want to read ‘A Little Life’)
