I’m trying to find books for my mom that may resonate with her and her experience. The problem that I’ve seen with most books about escaping abuse is they’re focused on physically or emotionally aggressive men, whereas I’m looking for something that is more about abuse due to a partners mental illness, like where they think that they’re helping their partner because of delusions but in reality they’re really practicing abusive tactics and exerting control even if that’s not intentional. Would Why Does He Do That? still be a good read for her or is it more focused on physically abusive relationships?

Why does he do that is the PERFECT book for your mom!
My ex-husband was the same, he would use his mental health issues to manipulate and abuse me. It’s a real mind fuck. Why Does He Do That breaks down, like, every manipulative aspect of abusive behavior and really helped me reset my perspective.
