I’m looking for something to pull me back into the magic of reading.✨ I used to read 24/7, but “adult life”got in the way, and somehow it’s been 10+ years since I’ve picked up a book just to enjoy it.

Recently, I’ve tried re-reading novels I used to love, but they feel a bit too juvenile now – I can’t relate to the characters anymore. For reference, the books I’m having trouble getting into center around teenagers and their lives – being in my 30s, obvious reasons make it hard to truly connect or feel like I’m in the shoes of a main character who’s a 16 year old lol.

Things I used to love in a good book:

    • long books or series (the more pages, the better)

    • dystopian or fantasy worlds

    • romance (i’m a sucker for it)

    • strong characters

    • a bit of humor

    • suspense (i looooove to be kept on my toes)

I’m not looking for anything super heavy or emotionally devastating — please no major tearjerkers. I’m also a baby, so no horror or paranormal recommendations either.😂

If you’ve read something that re-ignited your reading spark, I’d love to hear about it. Thank you so much in advance!!!

    1. Here are some you might like.

      * Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell. I just read this and it feels kind of in between adult and YA. The main characters are in their mid to late 20s. It’s a sci fi space opera romance.

      * We Are Satellites by Sarah Pinsker. I think this author has a very easily readable writing style. It follows a married couple and their kids over the years, during a time of technological change, so *romance* isn’t the focus, but the married couple are in love.

      * Borne by Jeff VanderMeer. Post apocalyptic dystopian romance.

      * Amatka by Karin Tidbeck. Very dystopian, reminds me a lot of 1984. There is romance, but it isn’t the major focus of the story.
