I’ve been in the process of coming to terms with being a victim of sexual abuse for a while, and I’m struggling to see my story reflected in literature. If you would, can you give me a book rec where a character fits kind of along the lines of:
- Character denies SA happened
- It only happened once “so it shouldn’t really matter”
- Oh crap this experience is actually affecting me down the road
Optional: abuser is female (older than victim).
My story has a female (trusted) abuser, single incident, and a road of denial. There’s some social/emotional manipulation in there, but never a repeat SA incident. A lot of books that I find have more intense stories than mine, which doesn’t help the impostor syndrome.
Thank you for any help or pointers!
