I am looking for an adult book where a group of archetypical teens must band together to solve a mystery or survive a horror experience. Small town mystery, teachers are evil, social hierarchy, breaking into school late at night, hot mean girls and jocky jocks. The story that most comes to mind is the 1998 film the Faculty. Other books the first Animorphs book (but this is young adult), or Salem’s Lot (but this doesn’t have teenagers). Stranger Things also fits but looking for more of a nostalgic 90s or 00s bend rather than 80s. Bonus points if it is alien or sci fi but horror, fantasy or even just good contemporary would still work.

Note: I did a google search and I saw the other thread (links aren’t allowed) but that was mostly non-teenage stories.
