“highbrow” summer/beach reads

i know this is a contradictory title, but i’m looking for good beach reads/summer reads that are not just fluff. I need to read books that have a compelling plot and interesting characters while also being well written. that’s not to say that the book needs to be serious, it just needs to be a high quality novel for me to be able to enjoy it. the best description that i could come up with to get my point across was highbrow beach reads lol … i hope this makes sense 😭
