Hi! Could you please recommend a book set in Scotland? It can be literary fiction (my preferred genre), a classic, historical novel, or even fantasy (but not ya). I’m especially looking for something atmospheric, ideally with rich descriptions of a Scottish town and/or the landscape. Mentions of local traditions or folklore would be a big plus too. Thank you in advance!
BTW one of my favourite books is The Living Mountain by Nan Shepherd, so something similar to that would be also great ☺️

Outlander!
Nigel Tranter wrote excellent historical fiction, like the Bruce trilogy and the Stewart trilogy, as well as non-fiction, like “Tales and Traditions of Scottish Castles.”
The Way Of All Flesh by Ambrose Parry
I was going to recommend The Living Mountain.
Have you read Alisdair Gray, Lanark, Poor Things, etc?
