I really aspire to read books to keep me busy, stuffing my brain w knowledge/thoughts, as a hobby or just simply as a thing.
I'm in mid twenties and have only completed couple (3-4) of books (books in courses).
I have tried reading easy books like "hitchhikers guide to galaxy", "kite runner", "Harry Potter" but couldn't read more than 10 pages. Also tried to keep the daily page counts in single digits, listening to audiobooks or articles to fuel my curiosity.
So I challenge you to tell me books which hook me up from the very beginning and keeps me engaged. It is to develop a habit of reading
PS: I'm new to this sub so do let me know if I'm not following any rules

A Farewell to Arms, by Hemingway
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, by Ken Kesey. I couldn’t put it down.
The myth of normal by Gabor Mate
Project Hail Mary but ONLY on audio.
I’d just like to say that the Hitchhiker’s Guide is not an easy to read book, so don’t feel too bad about not sticking with it. Since you want to read to broaden your horizons, maybe read something shorter like Animal Farm? Are you against reading things for younger readers in general? Perhaps you could try the Lockwood & Co series, or even Series of Unfortunate Events.
‘Project Hail Mary’ and ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ are great options.
This may or may not be a good choice: “Blood Meridian” by Cormac McCarthy. At the least, it will expand your vocabulary. It’s messing me up, though. I read a lot of horror and the like, but nothing ever like this. It is disturbing, but I can’t stop reading it. Not an easy book on several levels.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – it’s designed to suck you in from page one and keep you totally hooked
Perfect for building that daily reading habit since it’s so hard to put down once you start!
The Martian by Andy Weir
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
