A friend of mine passed away a week ago and I wanna read some books about people experiencing grief. Specifically women, women written and narrated preferably.
Some books I’ve loved: My year of rest and relaxation, bunny, Eleanor oliphant is completely fine, Greta & valdin

I would suggest Joan Didion’s “The Year of Magical Thinking.”
**The Year of Magical Thinking** (Didion)
Not about women, but definitely about grief and living after profound loss. **A Heart That Works**, by Rob Delaney, a memoir about the loss of his toddler to cancer.
I’m sorry about your friend. “We All Want Impossible Things” is a really moving novel about the death of a friend that really centers the experience of female friendship and grieving.
I’ve read this book 3-4 times over the years. It hits differently every time, but it always resonates. It’s an older book & may not be available on audio.

The Friend, by Sigrid Nunez
Not female but great book, Tuesdays with Morrie
I highly recommend B.F.F. By Christy Tate. Deals with the death of her closest friend to cancer and meditates on friendship and how we choose and are chosen.
‘To love and let go’ yogi gal loses her best friend and others and navigates it gracefully. It specifically called to me because it touches on shared death experience, which I experienced when my best friend passed. Im sorry for your loss and I hope you find some comfort💓
Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire has one of the best discussions about grief I can recall, and I often reference the scene when talking with folks who are struggling with their grief.
It was made into a largely faithful movie with Nicole Kidman.
