Unfortunately I've gotten to a point where most mysteries aren't able to suprise me anymore. I'm usually able to guess the ending before I reach the halfway point of a book, which obviously ruins the suspense a bit. I'm looking for some recommendations for books that are difficult to predict, even for avid mystery readers. For reference, some authors that I've been enjoying lately are Rachel Abbott, Megan Collins, Mark Edwards, Riley Sager, and Paula Hawkins. I prefer to avoid books with graphic descriptions of sex crimes or domestic abuse, but other than that, I'm open to any subject matter. Thanks guys!

Ellis Peters’ Cadfael series, set in medieval England.

Elizabeth Peters’ Amelia Peabody mystery series, set in 19th-early 20th century Egypt at the height of British archaeology.
