Just got back from NYC and I'm intrigued by it's history and infrastructure. Any good book recommendations about the history of constructing and planning the city? Maybe something similar to the chapters in The Devil in the White City where it talks about constructing the 1983 World's Fair?

The Power Broker by Robert Caro
Not only Robert Caro but David McCullough too!!!
the great Bridge is a fun but grounded read
2nd the Power Broker as someone stated for the actual planning and building of the city
Also recommend New York by Edward Rutherford if you want a history of the city from Dutch colony to 9/11. It’s told through the lens of a fictional family through the generations, but the events are real and many real life people appear throughout. Not as much about the building but I found it interesting and informative
