after being in a slump of not connecting with novels and audiobooks or collections of short stories or poetry being the only books able to hold my attention, i’ve fallen in love with novels again! i’m so happy and i want to find more to enjoy!
some recent favorite literary fiction novels:
matrix by lauren groff (a new all-time favorite, the book that has reignited my passion for novels! i am a lapsed catholic feminist lesbian… this book feels made for me!)
girl, woman, other by bernardine evaristo
when we lost our heads by heather o’neill
housemates by emma copley eisenberg
everyone in this room will someday be dead by emily austin
detransition baby by torrey peters (i also loved her recently published collection stag dance)
such a fun age by kiley reid
i’m sure you’ll notice the recurring lesbian/generally queer, anti-racist, feminist themes ! honestly, i don’t read many books authored by men (other than some favorite male poets like chen chen, li-young lee, gustavo hernandez, and ross gay), but of course i’m open to any and all fitting suggestions!
i also love lesbian romance novels (favorites include yerba buena by nina lacour, exciting times by naoise dolan, and count your lucky stars by alexandria bellefleur)!
