Give me your best recommendation of a women in a less than conventional marriage
Don’t really want super sad tropes or anything. Just women who realized fairytales didn’t exist or that love wouldn’t bring them everything they wanted. Something maybe more positive, where they discovered a new dream or adventure.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid fits this! I wouldn’t say it’s more positive, but it’s an incredible and emotional read.

The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
Loki is not a conventional husband, but it’s not his story, it’s Angrboda’s! It’s a great exploration of her life outside of her marriage, but of course the two are linked.

**Britt-Marie Was Here** by *Fredrik Backman*
A woman, thrown from the comfort of her life as a married homemaker, arrives in a small town to work the impoverished recreation center in charge of a group of rag-tag kids. In the classic trope, they need her and she needs them as she realizes she is more than just the wife of her husband.

If you’re ok with fantasy, I love Naomi Novik’s Spinning Silver and Uprooted. The romances are unconventional and very slow-burn, but satisfying for everyone involved. Both very woman-focused. As a queer woman who isn’t really into conventional m/f romance I really enjoyed them.

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles is a kids series, but it’s very good and exactly this!
