My partner and I are wanting to start reading smut together, and she has started with the ACOTAR series. She read me a snippet today and it wasn’t for me, don’t get me wrong I got the feeling, I felt it, but it was ruined by the two characters actions, and dialogue. One was giving “oh pwincess, you made me wait” tips fedora, and the other was giving everything is about me queen vibes. Also I don’t think the Game of Thrones/Lord of the Rings fantasy type vibes is for me, I’m a lover of fantasy, but I feel as though they all end up feeling the same (I am completely open for someone to change my mind on that though if you have suggestions).
Because of this I am looking for any suggestions of books that could fall under these tropes/categories:
Genres: Sci-Fi, Dystopian/Apocalyptic, Mafia (40s-60s), Modern Fantasy (e.e. Blade)
Tropes: Can’t really put my finger on what tropes I’m properly into as of yet, but all I know is that I don’t want some ethereal twink being all “you don’t understand my power, I can’t control it, I’m a monster”, I’m good, nah uh, thank you.
I am also a queer, non-binary/male presenting person, so if there are any books out there that are more from the ‘male’ perspective than female, but I am also not saying no to the female perspective entirely.
Gay, Trans, Heterosexual relationships/sex are all good with me honey, I love it all, give me all of it!
I hope you all can help me with suggestions, I know it not a lot to go off of, I’m sorry, but it would really help me out. I just want to getting more into reading in general and this community so any help would be appreciated❤️
