My daughter is a voracious reader. She loves fantasy but would also like to explore sci-fi. She has read and loved the complete Warrior Cats series and since then has loved His Dark Materials and recently fell hard in love with the hunger games. She tried but sadly didn't enjoy the Earthseed trilogy. My daughter is very excited to read your suggestions!

This the perfect age for Robin McKinley. Start with The Blue Sword and then The Hero and the Crown. Pegasus is another lovely one by McKinley.
Note – most of McKinley’s books are ideal for teenagers, but I’d avoid Deerskin until she’s older.
The Akata witch series and the Bruja born series might be great fits!
The Murderbot diaries by Martha Wells

– *The Riddle-Master* *Trilogy* by Patricia A. McKillip
– The *Discworld* series by Terry Pratchett
– The *Earthsea Cycle* by Ursula K. Le Guin

I read Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King at her age. Don’t worry about it being inappropriate. It’s definitely suitable for YA.
Also, Vengeance and Honour by Ben Dixon is an excellent, more recent, adventure quest fantasy book. A lot of action, magic, peril, humour and twists with great characters.
