Hello all,
I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant (first pregnancy) and anxious about many things. I’m pretty politically aware wich is not a great thing to be in these times.
I’m looking for books to help me take my mind off things but nothing violent. And nothing looking for books about pregnancy or parenting necessarily.
I usually read fiction (contemporary), memoirs, and non fiction. Not a fan of sci fi and fantasy though…
Thank you!

Maybe check out The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett by Annie Lyons!
I really like The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green. It was quirky, funny, insightful, and often beautiful.
Also recently read The Wedding People, which was much more full of hope and light than I thought a silly popular novel would be.
Best of luck with your pregnancy, sending healthy and happy vibes.
do you like YA/Romance?
A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson (nonfiction) which is a funny story about an out-of-shape man who decides he’s going to hike the Appalachian Trail.
I actually enjoy reading middle grade and children books, which is not only a safe bet regarding the violence, but might also give you an idea of what’s out there, and starting a little library for your kid.
I would also recommend cozy fiction, there’s a bit in every genre: mystery, romance… I don’t have any particular recommendation in those genres, as I’m more into fantasy and sci fi, but I’m sure other people will recommend some.
