i’ve been trying to read more lately but most memoirs feel too polished. like they’re trying to teach something or wrap things up too neatly. i don’t mind if the writing’s a little messy. i just want it to feel real.
what i’m looking for is something emotional but grounded. not necessarily tragic, just honest. the kind of book that makes you feel like you’re sitting on the floor with someone while they tell you what actually happened.
i love when writers include the awkward details, the contradictions, the stuff that doesn’t always make sense. bonus if there’s some softness in it too, even if it’s hard.
i don’t mind if it’s about growing up, healing, mental health, relationships, anything like that. just want something that makes me feel a little less alone when i read it.
