I love a good angsty book every once in a while, the tricky thing is I am NOT a fan of anything too sappy. Ideally I’d love a good fiction book or sci-fi or fantasy. Nothing too outlandish. Can involve romance but has to have like some other piece to it and I’m not huge on the exclusively romance genre (don’t care so much about spice). I’m more about emotion and feelings rather than anything super spicy, although it’s okay if it’s there. Violence is fine.
Examples of a good angsty situation: star-crossed lovers (of course) or like an impending doom or inescapable fate, misunderstood character. Loneliness… Preferably not a teen book unless it’s like crazy good.
Things I’ve read and enjoyed that may or may not be angsty: Red Rising, GoT, Altered Carbon, most books by Naomie Novik, V.E. Schwab, some Joe Abercrombie
Some specifically angsty books I like: A Tale of Two Cities, Wuthering Heights
