Hi guys! This might sound a bit silly but my cat of 18 years that I’ve had since I was a little girl just passed away. I feel like I’ve lost a sibling, and I sort of see this as the last mark of my childhood and childhood home being gone. I feel a bit delicate and in need of a good book to help me through this. I don’t necessarily need a distraction nor do I want an emotionally gut-punching read.
I’d like something along the lines of East of Eden, or To Kill a Mockingbird, The Goldfinch, etc. Something with beautiful prose and life lessons to ponder. I am fairly acquainted with older classics so perhaps if someone is able to point me in the direction of more modern classic or contemporary literature that would be great!
I am in a bit of a fantasy / horror / sci fi rut (which is normally great!) at the moment so wanting to spend a little bit more time in the “real” world for my next read.
