My kid (5 years old) is an enormous book lover; a voracious independent reader and a great enjoyer of being read to. He's quite ahead of his age in terms of reading ability- but is still 5, so can't really handle or access actual content meant for older kids.
He's a huge fan of The Wild Robot series. We've read them to him a bunch of times, and he's taken to reading them himself too. They're a good combination of being fairly challenging prose (for his age) whilst the content itself is still fully agree appropriate and accessible.
Any suggestions of other kids' books which tick the same boxes?
