“A taste for writing thrillers has, alas, rarely gone with left-wing convictions” — any exceptions or counter-examples?

I haven’t read this yet but I just heard an interview with the author about it from a left-wing source and it sounded very interesting: The System by Barry Eisler.

I would also say The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its sequels are more on the left side.
