I’m old and am going through a period in which I cannot finish a book. I abandon everything (with a jaded sigh) somewhere before halfway. I’m looking for some intellectually stimulating collections of essays. I say intellectually stimulating, but I’m open to a bit of whimsy here and there. I just need something new to get my brain engaged. It should be added that I like reading things that are politically engaged, but it’s not a necessary requirement. I have a background in philosophy and critical theory and my favourite writers include: Cormac McCarthy, Han Kang, Martin Amis, Seamus Heaney, Slavoj Zizek, Mark Fisher, Haruki and Rui Murakami, Jean Baudrillard, Ian McEwan, Irvine Welsh… and so on.
