Hi! So unfortunately a mixture of school required reading (writing student LOL) and social media killing my attention span has resulted in me not being able to read. I’ve bought books in an attempt to give myself “ample time” to read but I’ve never gotten around to it; so I’m trying the opposite and giving myself a bit of a more artificial time limit by checking out a book or 2 from my local library.
I don’t mind if the suggestion is niche as my library is an okay size I think and I don’t mind requesting books from the system. I also don’t mind if it’s a standalone or series. My only ask is that it’s fiction (kinda prefer not historical fiction/war stories) and not a graphic novel/manga because I’ve read a LOT of those and I’m trying to get back into standard novels.
As a kid my favorite series were:
The Series of Unfortunate Events (number 1 favorite)
Running on the Cracks (another top favorite)
The Kane Chronicles
The Divergent Series
The Land of Stories series
Magic Treehouse
I remember reading a lot of realistic fiction as a kid too (and maybe not so realistic, idk the name but there was a series about a girl who went to spy school that I enjoyed). I also read and remember enjoying the Selection Series so I’m up for romance novels too (18+ is completely fine but I’d prefer if that wasn’t necessarily advertised by the title/cover as I’ll be going with my family).
I won’t lie I haven’t read many of the standard novels (A Fault in The Stars, Hunger Games, Twilight, Percy Jackson, etc) so if you genuinely think those might be good jumping off points then feel free to suggest especially because I know a lot of those are shorter since they’re aimed more for teens.
Thank you so much for your help!
TLDR: need a fiction book to help reinvigorate my love of reading; not historical/war fiction and no manga/graphic novels.
