I struggle with perseverating thoughts (ruminating for TONS of time on mistakes, regrets, failures, etc.). My therapist has suggested a technique that involves keeping an incredibly boring book with me and forcing myself to read 5 pages of it whenever I'm stuck in my bad thoughts, especially at night to interrupt the pattern and bore my brain into sleepiness. (If anyone else is interested in trying this, she also suggests reading the book in a chair that isn't particularly comfortable, like a wooden kitchen chair.).

What's the dullest book ever? Unfortunately I'm a huge reader and find many topics interesting. However, something about math, or a book that recounts a lot of dull details of a war, or a biography of someone very uninteresting are some thoughts I'm having.

    Help me out!

For me, it was probably The Blazing World by Margaret Cavendish. It’s interesting in that it was written in the 17th century and one of the earliest works of science fiction ever published, but I found it to be kind of a dredge to read through, and a bit difficult too because of the many hundred years of difference in writing

It’s a classic, and I’ve tried to read it 3 times and just can’t. Moby Dick.

Dispossessed is a novella by Philip Hodgins

I can still feel the rising dread I used to feel when I walked into my Year 10 English class in high school, knowing we were studying it. So, so incredibly boring

Endurance is supposed to be a great adventure story but a lot of it is lists of supplies and crew members.
