A friend of mine was asking for a book recommendation, and I know she was a big time fan of romance, so I looked over at my bookshelf and Kindle and noticed that most my books are quite… anti-romantic to say the least. I have a total of 2 romance books that don't result in either the love interest's death, one-sided crush, or an abusive relationship, and I want to change that. I prefer classics but it's not really a requirement, and no smut.

The Sound of Waves by Yukio Mishima
*In a Holidaze* – Christina Lauren
– I love reading this one every now and then. It’s got a bit of adventure, romance, family stuff – all in one. A tad bit of smut but not the focus. It’s especially lovely if you love the holidays and Christmas time
*Love and Other Words* – also by Christina Lauren
– reconnecting and a happy ending
*Check & Mate* ***-*** Ali Hazelwood
– no smut, young adult fiction
– young chess rivals dealing with life and their past
– happy ending
I have liked all the books by: Helen Hoang, Ali Hazelwood, Abby Jimenez
The Secret to Happiness by Suzanne Woods Fisher
Possession by A.S. Byatt
Crosstalk by Connie Willis
