    1. You could narrow it down a bit since a lot of books aimed at lonely people.

Should it be fiction or non fiction? Modern, historical or futuristic? Power fantasy or grounded?

Vorkosigan Saga by Bujold is a scifi series where the protagonist is a disabled guy with a crush on his childhood friend who desperately wants to be seen so he goes from one dangerously stupid adventure to another. I think the books the perfect mix of serious themes and comfy atmosphere.

The Diary of a Rapist by Evan S. Connell (Yes, the title is unsavory, the content even more repugnant, BUT it dealt with themes of loneliness, among other things, and might be useful to reflect on certain things such as gender roles, societal expectations, toxic masculinity, desensitization to violence, as a male.)

      Something less repulsive:
      – The Remains of the Day
      – Kokoro
      – The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (the male characters in this are dealing with loneliness and isolation in various ways, maybe one of them stick will with you.)

If you like fantasy you could try the Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb. Fitz is my favorite character of all time and he is the ultimate sad boy. If anything you can get lost in his world for a bit. Sorry for the hard time you are going through, hope you feel better soon.

    4. A Man Called Ove and Anxious People. Both were written by Fredrik Backman. Hope these help you feel less alone.

      The Dungeon Crawler Carl series.

Guy’s girlfriend cheats on him, and the world is destroyed by aliens. He gets thrown into a sort of D & D dungeon with her cat (who becomes sentient), and hilarity ensues.
