My favourite episodes of Doctor Who have always been the more Sci-fi ‘horror’ leaning ones, however, I’ve not had much luck with Sci-fi books in general.
My favourite aspect of episodes are always linked to the characters—i love focus on how the Sci-fi elements expose facets of people, how character relationships are tested by them, and so on!
Episodes I’d love to read books similar to:
– Midnight (isolation, the exploration of how unfamiliar situations and panic can form terrifying mob mentalities, and the difference between how the side characters act in the start vs end, but when you look back some of their worse qualities were always there…)
– Waters of Mars (again with the isolation, the way characters act under pressure, and oh my god the ending which is so upsetting in a completely different way)
– Library Two-Parter (not the most ‘horror’ episode but I think it shows what I’m looking for very well!)
– The God Complex
– Blink (I like how slow paced a lot of the episode is)
there are more but I think these really encapsulate what I’m looking for 😊 also yes I am aware there are Doctor who books, but I’m looking for atmospheric matches more than more actual doctor who content at the mo!
