So as you may have figured out, I love when the MMC is yearning and I’m looking for the most heartbreaking yearning you’ve ever read because I feel like crying today. I read Reckless (powerless trilogy) yesterday and teared up a little because I felt bad for the MMC so my standards aren’t high at all lmao.
I don’t like historical romance unfortunately (I know the yearning in those are good from what I’ve heard) but I just cringe most of the time so I prefer contemporary or fantasy romance is also fine. Enemies to lovers is a must and spice atleast 4/5 so not YA. Any suggestions?
Thank you!!!

Tigana comes to mind, and if anyone is good at writing that heart deep yearning, for another person, for another time, for a different place, for the innocence of youth or the time before, Guy Gavriel Kay seems to arrange it very deftly.
Lions also, as well as the Sarantine Mosiac a have different versions of yearning, but hit the heartstrings in a way that leaves a mark.
Not YA, certainly, and… enemies to lovers sort of fits Tigana as well
I recommend you check out r/romancebooks if you don’t get anything helpful here
Sword of Sparrows
Villains & Virtues
Six of Crows
If you go to r/fantasyromance or r/romantasy and search “yearning” you’ll find lots of recs, it feels like someone asks this once a day
