Recently I bought Bernard Cornwell's Chronicles of Arthur, translated into Portuguese by record publisher, but I put the book down almost halfway through, just because of Cornwell's writing.
I had never read one of his books before, and I found the writing very convoluted and not very fluid, I couldn't make the reading remain in that automatic state, enjoying the story, I had to keep going back through sentences and sometimes entire paragraphs. And it's not because it's complicated writing, I've read much worse.
I really wanted to know if this specific book is like this, if it's the publisher's fault and I should look for another edition, or if the translator is bad. If all his books are like this I won't read them, and I would like suggestions for stories in that style. Thanks 🙂

That’s my least favorite series of his by far. I highly recommend the Sharpe series and The Last Kingdom series, they’re both much better
An excellent similar author is Christian Cameron, his Chivalry series in particular is really great medieval historical fiction
I love his books, especially the Saxon tales and the sharpe books.
