Looking for a book for Christmas for my dad. His favorite author is humorist Patrick McManus. He’s not a huge outdoors man but the stores of camping and growing up really appeal to him. Looking for something funny, clean, ideally available in audiobook because he does not see well.

A lot of John Gierach’s books are currently free with an Audible subscription if you want to try one before purchasing one. He’s not a humorist, but is still funny at times. All his essays are well written. Maybe try Standing in a river waving a stick.

    2. You might try Dave Barry. He isn’t focused on the outdoors like McManus, though they have a similar style of humor. Barry probably tends to be a bit more arch than McManus. In addition to his essays, Barry has also done comedic novels. McManus also has a series of novels; though I didn’t personally like the first one enough to continue with the series.
