Any suggestions for a book where the character(s) end up in the most unbelievably wild situations, and somehow get out of it? I don't care if it's fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, or anything in between, I'd just love to find something that makes me go "Oh my god?! What just happened?!"

John Scalzi’s **Starter Villain** is the most entertaining book I’ve read recently. It’s a spoof of the early James Bond movies. A substitute teacher inherits his estranged uncle’s villainy which comes complete with a secret volcanic lair. Scalzi describes it as a ‘common man in uncommon circumstances’.
But if you want *really* zany, **The Illuminatus! Trilogy** by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. The story is a satirical look at multiple conspiracy theories. Written in the 1970’s, some of its topical humor and references may be dated.
The Library at Mount Char. It’s a “WTF did I just read?” But in the best possible way.
“The Hike” by Drew Magary is just such a thing. I didn’t like it, but enough people I know did for me to recommend it, especially with your criteria.
Noir! by Moore was pretty fun
Snowcrash, Neal Stephenson
The Hike by Drew Magary! Without giving too much away – Main character goes on a Hike behind his hotel prior to a business meeting and finds himself lost, on an adventure where crazy stuff keeps happening. Definitely fits the bill for a “what did I just read?” adventure story.
