but not looking for a coming of age novel, looking for more of a middle-aged perspective, fiction and non-fiction welcome, literary novels preferred, it does not have to be the main plot but that kind of grief being a major theme would be important

I’ve read a lot about grief this year. If you are interested in a biological perspective, a pair of books by Mary Frances-O’Connor, _The Grieving Brain_ and _The Grieving Brain_, were both fascinating.
