I know the title is quite vague, but I'm looking for recommendations on some of the most important books to general society. Books that speak on politics, books that speak on history, books that are thought evoking, books that are educational, etc.
If not specific books, then maybe some good authors with a good collection of works!
I don't care when the book was written, I don't care if it's old English or not.
And no books on psychology, please! I already have many psychology books, I had a phase in my life where I was super into learning about psychology, so I'm not looking for any recs on that topic. Thank you!

I think any book that has stood the test of time and is still held in wide regard is important to read. Examples are ancient works by Greeks and Romans (Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Virgil, Marcus Aurelius), Russian literature such as Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Bulgakov and Solzhenitsyn, or books from other classic authors such as Hemingway, Dickens, Steinbeck, Orwell etc. The books from these authors are all renowned for a reason and are largely foundational to Western civilization as a whole and culture as we know it today. The Brothers Karamazov, for example, is considered one of the greatest novels of all time because of its thought provoking philosophy and depth of characters.
