Starting a book club at my office and need some recs:
- Fiction or nonfiction (any genre really)
- Preferably under 300 pages
- Nothing very political or religious
- A little thriller/horror/scary is fine, but nothing too extreme
A lot of us have already read the Midnight Library and the Ocean at the End of the Lane, so neither of those, please. It will be our first book club, so what would be a good option to kick things off?

Maybe something from Hermann Hesse? Gives a lot to discuss and touches upon themes that almost everyone (I think) can relate to. Or other classics, there is always something you can research about and they can easily be linked to nonfiction themes, like, obviously, history. 🙂 I hope you have a lot of fun.
Oh and I always like to recommend Vita nostra, dyanchenko and Stella Maris, McCarthy. Maybe a little more challenging but absolutely worth it. And give a lot of stuff to discuss.

It’s the most wholesome, vibe-based book out there. If you want to set a tone this will do it.
