Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan, Griffith from Berserk, Rin from The Poppy War.

In that the character starts as a good, morally upright protagonist, but then they go through some shit, leading to them having a character arc or series of character arcs (for the worst) where they end up committing mass murder or genocide.
I like seeing how authors are able to craft a character that completely loses their sense of morality to commit such atrocious actions and justify it, for whatever reason.
Idk if this is related but I also have a weird fixation with Jim Jones and Jonestown. What happened there and seeing the photos of the aftermath disturbs me so viscerally that I can’t help but return to reading up on the topic every now and again.

Claymore. Almost all of the main protagonists/antagonists match this to some extent
The manga is on shonen jump app. Top 3 on my favorite manga list
Death Note. All the good intentions in the world can’t compete with being given a book that kills people. And there is certainly justification for the actions of the characters
