I’m having a bad depressive episode and feeling suicidal. The book I’m currently reading (The Bee Sting) I was enjoying before this but now everything is super triggering for me, and making me spiral.

I need to jump start my system somehow with a book that’s guaranteed to lift my spirit and give me hope for continuing to live…. Lol a heavy ask, I know.

If it helps narrow things down, I’m not religious and I don’t read self-help. But I’m open to anything else really.

I’m so sorry everything is awful right now. It’s brave of you to try and find a way out. I have often enjoyed rereading comforting old favourites when I’ve been in a hole. Do you have any you could lose yourself in for a while?
If not here are some of mine:

-The Last Sun by KD Edwards (this is 1st of 4 in series. Handy if you like it, you can just keep on. The audiobook is well done)

-Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata (all of her books are pretty reliably engaging and uplifting. Audiobook is well done)

-The Scapegracers trilogy by HA Clarke. (Queer angry feminist teen witches. Soo great. Audiobooks well done)

Perhaps if you have the ability to listen to audiobooks while you also play easy computer games (or do some colouring or crafts) it will help you to ease your mind and stop the spin of darkness it’s in.

Sending you hugs and gentle care x
