Hi! I’m currently going through a divorce and packing up my house, and last night I scrolled through my most recent reads and realized they probably aren’t helping my mood (for example, I love The Stand, but I suspect it’s not quite the vibe I need right now!).
I’m looking for slice-of-life, comedy, and the like; medium-challenging (Discworld is right in my strike zone right now, though high fantasy isn’t usually my jam); and please no romance (for the obvious reasons, haha). I’m okay with conflict plotlines, even relationship conflict, but overall my taste recently has been leaning a little too grim and I’m looking to make an adjustment!
Beach reads welcome, and I enjoy comedy-of-manners books and the like. What books made you laugh or smile when you were in a funk? That’s the kind of thing I’m looking for right now — and thank you so much in advance!

Neil Peel’s Holiday is damned hilarious slice of life nostalgia and good for a holiday read. A family holiday through the eyes of a narrator who always tells the truth. There was so much rich humour, it was wasted on my 16yo son. I got it all though.
