Books where the MC progressively and eventually fully goes to the “dark side”.

For comparison Attack on Titan is one of my favorite anime and I'd like to read something where the MC is initially "a good guy". But as the story progress, his personality changes and commits unforgivable acts.

Bonus points if it's a trilogy or longer!
