No elves, wizards and dragons and such unless the book depicts them in a unique light. I want fantasy settings that feel refreshing and thought provoking rather than just the same tropes. No heroes journey stuff either where the MC has some magical birth right and is chosen by something greater, I just want original characters with very human motivations. If anyone knows any books like this which can satiate my very picky needs I would be grateful
