I am looking for book similar to video essays! Specifically, books that are about one topic (preferably a more obscure one, but it doesn’t have to be!) and doing a deep dive on said topic, the history, impact, etc. Thank you!
Hey, Hun: Sales, Sisterhood, and Supremacy is a memoir from a woman who god really high up in a popular Multilevel Marketing organization. She deep dives into how MLMs work, what they’re like, how they trap people, and all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes. More narrative than most video essays, but may be of interest.
I also know there is a Goodreads list called Microhistory: Social Histories of Just One Thing that are all books that deep dive into one topic. Maybe something to check out!
