One that’s made you ugly cry or changed your entire perspective about yourself or life, the one you’re always recommending to others, the one you personally bought a physical copy of just to have.
I can suggest ones I loved enough to buy recently, but it’s largely based on books that had some sort of emotional component that hit home for me specifically. I would recommend all these books even if the topics don’t apply to you though.
Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner. I listened to this on audiobook from the library, but I bought it physically after I was done. Grief memoir about the loss of her mom, which I’m dealing with.
I’ve ended up buying every Taylor Jenkins Reid book I read, ugly cried in at least 1 of them. Malibu Rising, Carrie Soto is back, Evelyn Hugo
Anxious people by Fredrick Backman- I loved the writing and the story
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Ownes- Not as much directly applicable to me in here for me but I thought it was a well done book and enjoyed it enough to own it.
The other books I cry in are usually fantasy series because I’ve had time to get attached to the characters. God I can’t tell you how much I sobbed as a child reading Harry Potter 5 lol.
Boss-Smiley on
The Book of Disquiet, by Fernando Pessoa
Rough-Analysis-2683 on
Ill always recommend The Path of Ashes by Robert Fannin. It’s a psychological dark fantasy that deals with the themes of trauma and obsession. I own a hardcover, which has some cool sketches and a map.
