My cousin is 10, she doesn’t have much interest in books because her mom and our family aren’t big readers and didn’t really read to us. I learned to like reading as an escape from all the drama happening around me. She uses an iPad to escape into YouTube shorts. I want her to learn to at least like reading. She’s struggling with comprehension in school and I figured she’d be more Interested in it if she could find some books she liked. She doesn’t finish most books because she says they’re “mid” and gets too distracted to complete them. I have recommended the Ramona series by Beverly clearly and she didn’t like it or finish it. The one series she has read more than one book in because she enjoyed it was the Dog Man series. I’m not sure what else is similar to that or if I could maybe expand further out or closer to more chapter books/novels for her. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I loved Warrior Cats at her age. Maybe try those? Goosebumps might also be good.
Maybe try some graphic novels? Babysitter’s Club is a hit with my 10 year old.
I loved the Mysterious Benedict Society, not sure if it’d work for her or not though
The Percy Jackson series
Sideways Stories from Wayside School (and the others in the series) have a similarly bizarre humor to Dog Man. Also the chapters are quite short. She might like them!
