A family friend is looking to set her son up with some “classics” to read during high school, and has asked me to help source some second-hand (I’m always bookshopping lol).
I think what she has in mind (Dickens, Austen) is probably too dry and heavy going. Does anyone have any suggestions about books that might be right for a thirteen year old boy that could also be at least plausibly ‘serious/thought provoking’ enough?
In case it helps I would describe him as a STEM-focused kid first and foremost.
Any suggestions very much welcomed
