I just finished reading a memoir about a Black woman who struggled to pursue astronomy and acting throughout her life; both of which she loved but felt like she had to only choose one. By the end of the book, she was able to find a way to build and live a life where she can do both and feel like she's living a meaningful life being her authentic self.
She researches and teaches astronomy. She teaches young girls astronomy through acting, drawing and writing. She writes. She paints. She's a loving mother.
I find myself in a very similar struggle of choosing between a career in technology, which I used to love initially but have been jaded / disillusioned / burnt out from the companies I've worked at, or a budding career in game writing. I just feel a lot of existential dread and doubt on what is the right path for me, and how I want to live my life.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for memoirs or biographies. I am not looking for self-help books. Those haven't really helped me.
The book is called "Life on Other Planets" by Dr. Aomawa Shields if anyone is curious.
