My third grader’s book report assignment is a holiday-related book. I generally read whatever book he’s been assigned so that we can discuss, but I’m sort a bit of a holiday humbug. A bit might be an understatement. We’ve done The Wild Robot, The Westing Game, and Holes so far for other assignments. Liked all those books. Maybe could have used the Westing Game’s Fourth of July connection for this assignment. Any recommendations?
PS: any holiday. Not just winter holidays. Also, we’re not Christian.

The Angel Tree by Daphne Benedis-Grab
If The Westing Game and Holes were a good reading level, maybe The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson? It’s pro-Christianity but definitely not preachy, and it’s HILARIOUS.
I don’t know if this would work, because it’s short: _The Tailor of Gloucester_ by Beatrix Potter
The Christmas Genie
by Dan Gutman
Nutcracker and Mouse-King
by E.T.A. Hoffmann
Totally second *Best Christmas Pageant*
