As October approaches, I'm hoping to read some more horror! But I want something so bone-chillingly horrifying, I can't help but keep me eyes on the page just so I can find an escape. Any genre of horror is great, but I'd love for it to be genuinely scary and not something scary just because it's gory.

Of King, I've only read It and am currently reading The Long Walk. I recently read Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House and Richard Matheson's Hell House, and had a good time with those, but would love to get even scarier.

    1. I read The Woman in Black, by Susan Hill, while in the middle of nowhere Scotland, highly recommended. Give whatever you’re reading some ambience, heightens the experience. Listen to static, light a candle, make faces in the mirror, talk gibberish.
