I’m looking for books that hit you so hard you literally have to stop and just stare at the page. Recently I read A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L. Peck, and it gave me some of that feeling—dark, unsettling, existential, the kind of story that lingers in your mind long after you close the book.
I’d love recommendations for something in a similar vein: disturbing, maybe dystopian, with that uncanny or haunting quality… ideally a bit longer than Peck’s novella.

The darkness outside us by Elliot schrefer. A scifi thriller with an incredible premise hidden under what you think is just a regular old space travel story. The cover is especially deceiving. Do not let it fool you.
