Hello everyone I need book suggestions in fiction. But they should be really underrated but good and only in fiction. So far I loved The Night Circus, The Golem and the Jinn, The house on the cerulean sea. I am also open to book suggestions like: A Handmaid's Tale, A Little Life, The Vegetarian.

I know these books i mentioned are the popular ones and not an underrated gem but that's what I am looking for….

Consider reading translated or non-anglophilic fiction if you want true underrated gems.

Japanese writers like Yoko Ogawa, Natsuo Kirino, Mieko Kawakami, Banana Yoshimoto are all great. You honestly can’t go wrong.

South Asian writers like Khushwant Singh, Rohinton Mistry, Anita Desai, Balli Kaur Jaswal — they all write in English but their worlds, stories, characters, dramas, humour are all vastly different from what you’ll find in the Western canon.

Yangsze Choo is a Malaysian author. I recently read The Night Tiger by her (set in colonial era Malaysia) and loved it.

Han Kang is a South Korean writer. The Vegetarian was an unforgettable novel — and very short too. Easy to get through.

The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi is a very readable science-fiction novel set in Thailand. It won the Hugo Award in 2010.

    3. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil or The Shepherd King Series
