I’m looking for relatively short books to help me build the habit of reading without it feeling too daunting.
Some books I’ve enjoyed are the Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman, Unwind, Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, and Project Hail Mary.
I’m open to most other genres since I’m not really sure what intrigues me yet, just no romance focused books.

Piranesi was under 300 and beautifully written fantasy.

What are your thoughts on something like this? A young boy meets a giant wolf pup in a forest of HUGE trees. Both the wolf pup and the boy are fighting to survive and not be killed by various creatures. There is a bit of magic and some fighting with bloodshed. If this sounds interesting, you might want to pick up [Ancient Things](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/222087879-ancient-things)
If you’re ok with YA (I’m assuming you might be since you listed Neal Schusterman’s books and six of crows among the books you enjoyed) you might want to give the Lockwood & Co series by Jonathan Stroud a shot. They’re not short necessarily but pretty easy reads and not longer than the books you’ve listed. They’re kind of paranormal fantasy as far as genre goes (ghosts!)
Red Rising is sci-fi and also not overly long, comparable to the ones you’ve enjoyed.
If you want to give the mystery genre a shot I found Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson to be a fun read.
