I am well aware that this is an overdone topic, but hear me out. (feel free to not engage)

I ultimately parted with goodreads, mainly because I really don't like the challenge aspect of it. I don't like it when apps/programs try to convince you to consume more, which is exactly what goodreads does. I also obv don't like that it's connected to amazon.

i am ideally looking for something that doesn't keep track of how often/much you read, just someplace to mark what has been read and what i rate it. think something more like letterboxd, but for books.

if anyone knows of something like this, please let me know! thank you <3

I just started using Fable and I really like it. Clean, colorful, with lots of ways to track different data points. You can also join social groups or “Book Clubs”. Check it out!

storygraph – the ui is nice and clean, no ads and the tracking and rating system is good too. I don’t really use the recommendations or “books suggested for you” feature, so i’ve no idea how good that is – but if you want a nice, clean book tracker and tbr-list maintainer, then I’d recommend storygraph.

I always ignore anything that treats it like a challenge, I think it’s about what you make of it more so. Anyone who tries to judge others for whatever reason are A-HOLES.

I don’t really have any alternatives for online but I sometimes journal my thoughts about a book and date them. Another thing might be finding reddit forums of the books you are reading and provide first time reader thoughts so other Redditors don’t spoil it for you.

    4. Bookmory. It’s really simple and you can create shelves/categories for books, TBRs, tags, notes, and rate and track them. etc.
